Programs

Dissertation research conducted by April Lynn Luehmann – teachers roles in reform-based science classrooms; the perceived value and desired use of authentic tools in reform-based science teaching.

Inquire into inquiry – an in-depth exploration of reform-based science learning and teaching across non-traditional learning contexts.

Belize trip 2003 – an in-depth exploratory case study of science teaching in a rich non-traditional school setting.

Get Real! Science – the impact of this approach to teacher preparation is being studied in a series of case studies over a six year period. The first year is a case study of innovative methods for collecting data of science teachers' development through their story-telling. The next five years are described in a study called, “Inclusion and Equity through Inquiry Science Teaching: Secondary Science Teachers' Professional Identity Development.”

Teacher blogging – a series of small exploratory studies about how teachers do and can use blogs in their professional work. Interactions with various professional communities are not supported.

Students and teachers are involved in many areas of research and discovery in the Get Real! Science programs.

They work in the classroom...

...and outdoors.
