The Early Reading First/ScienceStart! Project, developed by Lucia French, associate professor, is partnering with Strong Museum to help parents develop skills for talking with their children about joint experiences. Betty Bordner, Strong Museum’s education director, Warner doctoral student Joyce Duckles, and Sr. Dianne Crowley, the director of parent involvement for the project designed a four week workshop for parents from St. Monica’s school.

The workshops were created to enhance parents’ awareness of how to use language to guide children’s observations and learning, and to develop a sense of comfort and confidence in using the museum as a learning and recreational resource.
