Jordan, Spiegel Publish Reviews in Counseling Journal
Doctoral students Rachel Jordan and Lynda Spiegel have each published book reviews in the volume 12, number 1-2 issue of The Person-Centered Journal, which is published by the Association for the Development of the Person-Centered Approach. Jordan reviewed Using Technology to Improve Counseling Practice: A Primer for the 21st Century (American Counseling Association, 2003) by J. Michael Tyler and Russell Sabella. Spiegel reviewed The Making of a Therapist: A Practical Guide for the Inner Journey (Norton, W.W. & Company, 2004) by Louis Cozolino.

Chi Sigma Iota Inducts New Members
Eight Warner master’s students have been inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, the honor society for students, professional counselors, and counselor educators: Kristina Barbero, Alexander Gustafik, Sarah Klotz, Teresa Kneezel, Heather Noto, Melissa Reynolds-
Weber, Stephanie Willison, and Jonathon Vitale.

Steed Curates Art Exhibit
Doctoral student Amy Steed was the Curator of ”(en)GENDERED: identity, gender & art,” a juried exhibition of undergraduate art that ran in February and March in Rush Rhees Library. The exhibit featured works by 11 University of Rochester students exploring the intersection of gender, identity, and the visual arts.

Hochreiter Named Deputy Superintendent of Schools, Publishes Journal Article
Doctoral student Joseph Hochreiter has been named the deputy superintendent of schools for the Elmira City School District. In this newly created position, Hochreiter will coordinate change initiatives in the middle and high schools by identifying career focuses, working on transitions from grades eight to nine, and developing a customized summer program for all students.

In addition, Hochreiter published the article “High School Reform: There is No Canned Curriculum” in the Winter 2006 issue of the Journal of the School Administrators Association of New York State.

Blokhuis Presents Paper
Doctoral student Jason Blokhuis presented “Educational Rights Talk in Search of Question” at the annual meeting of the Philosophy of Education Society in Mexico in April. Blokhuis co-wrote the paper with Randall Curren, professor.

Abas Presents Workshop
Doctoral student Peter Abas presented the workshop “Rhythmic Art: Counselor Creates Empathy with Elderly Individual in Group Counseling through Rhythmic Hand Drumming” at the New York Mental Health Counselors Association Conference in Albany in April.
