Local Historical Documents Reviewed Ellen Santora, assistant professor, teaching and curriculum, along with Michael Jarvis, assistant professor, history, organized a one-day professional development workshop for teachers at the Susan B. Anthony House March 1. Two dozen teachers from city and suburban schools reviewed and discussed original documents written by those who forged the women's suffrage movement, and brainstormed how to used such sources to invigorate the teaching of history. The event was part of the "American History as Dialogue" project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Teaching American History Grant Program. New
Faculty to Join Warner Nancy Ares, assistant professor, teaching and curriculum. Ares earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology at Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., and is currently an assistant professor at the University of Utah in the College of Education. Her areas of specialization include teaching and teacher education. Jeannine Dingus, instructor, teaching and curriculum. Dingus earned her B.A. and M.S. degrees at the University of Rochester, and will receive her Ph.D. in June from the University of Washington in Seattle. Her research interests include teacher socialization, recruitment and retention of teachers of color, urban education, and qualitative research. Ann Monroe-Baillargeon, assistant professor, teaching and curriculum. Monroe-Baillargeon earned her Ph.D. in teaching and curriculum from the School of Education at Syracuse University. She is currently an assistant professor at Nazareth College of Rochester. Her areas of specialization include special education, reading, and language arts. |
