Injured Student Still in Guarded Condition
Sara Gail Ng Lim ’08, who was struck by a car on Tuesday while stepping into an Elmwood Avenue crosswalk, is still in guarded condition and being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital, according to a hospital spokesman. University officials are reminding pedestrians and drivers to exercise caution near heavily used crosswalks.    Read more...

Eastman May 2008 Degree Applications
Eastman students who plan to participate in the May 2008 commencement ceremonies must submit a degree application by Jan. 18. Applications are available online and in the Registrar's Office. Eastman undergraduates who complete their degrees in May, August, or December 2008 are eligible to participate in commencement.   

Catch the Project Vote Smart Bus Today
Check out the Project Vote Smart Bus today on Library Road near the Frederick Douglass Building and Fauver Stadium between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Hosted by "R World R Vote" and the Rochester Center for Community Leadership, the campaign teaches voters how to be informed about candidates.    Read more...

Form a College Bowl Team
Teams are needed for the upcoming College Bowl campus trivia tournament on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. in Wilson Commons. Teams are comprised of five students (four players at one time) with no more than one graduate student per team. Teams can be student group-based, residence hall-based, or could just be a group of friends. Registration forms are at the Common Market and must be returned along with a $10 team fee (cash or flex) by Monday, Nov. 12, at noon.  

The Pit Opens for Breakfast
The Pit in Wilson Commons will now open at 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, offering cereal, bagels, coffee, juice, fruit and yogurt.   

Also, don't miss out on the special dining events this week: Halal Feature Night on Nov. 13 in Danforth, and Thanksgiving Dinner at Eastman Dining Center on Nov. 14 and at Danforth on Nov. 15.    Read more...

Truth about Suicide & Survivors Day
The Truth about Suicide: Real Stories about Depression in College will be shown on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Tiernan Community Room. Learn about depression and other warning signs for suicide from college students who share personal experiences.

On Saturday, Nov. 17, a Survivors of Suicide Day for family and friends who have lost loved ones to suicide will be held from noon-5 p.m. in the Class of 1962 Auditorium in the School of Medicine and Dentistry. Lunch will be provided at no charge. To register, e-mail Rcarapella@afsp.org.

Brunch and Beowulf
Enjoy brunch and a discussion of Beowulf adaptations, including a new feature film, led by Sarah Higley, associate professor of English, on Sunday, Nov. 18, at noon in Rush Rhees Library. Faculty and students are also invited to join the Medieval Society for a viewing of the new Beowulf. Flu Shots on River Campus
UHS is holding a flu vaccine clinic for students on Monday, Nov. 12, in Bridge Lounge, Wilson Commons, from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $25 if not covered by insurance or free with BCBS insurance offered through UHS. Students also can schedule an appointment by calling 275-2662.    Read more...

Men's Soccer Advances

The Yellowjackets defeated 22nd-ranked Hobart College, 2-0, on Saturday to advance to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.  

Basketball Season Opener

The men's and women's team open their seasons on Friday, Nov. 16, in the Chuck Resler Tournament . Both teams are ranked in the top 15 in preseason polls
