Eastman School Registration
Online registration opens Monday, April 7, at 8 a.m. for all graduate students, the Class of 2009, and all dual-degree students. The Class of 2010 may register beginning Tuesday, April 8, at 8 a.m., and the Class of 2011 will register beginning Thursday, April 10, at 8 a.m. Read more...

Fall Semester Registration for the College
Rising seniors may register beginning Monday, April 7, at 10 a.m. Rising juniors may register beginning Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. Rising sophomores and members of the Class of 2012 will register beginning April 9 at 10 a.m. for birthdates from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31, at noon for birthdates from Jan. 1 through April 30, and at 2 p.m. for birthdates from May 1 through Aug. 31. The online registration window will remain open on the registrar site through April 30. Beginning May 1, freshmen and sophomores will be required to consult their academic advisor before making drop or add changes. Questions? E-mail registrar@mail.rochester.edu.

Update Your Emergency Contacts Online
The University's new emergency notification system, AlertUR, needs all undergraduates to check their contact information in the system. Go to www.rochester.edu/alertur, log in with your NetID, and fill in or change your emergency contacts. (Please note that text messages will be delivered more quickly than voice messages.)

Second Annual Fraternity Songwriter Night
A night of music featuring John Ray, Albert Stolt, Scott Huey, Peter Iwanowicz, and friends will take place at Starbucks at Wilson Commons on April 11 from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Student Writing Contest
The College Writing Program has announced the Undergraduate Writing Colloquium Contest. There will be awards and cash prizes for the best papers in four categories. Submissions are due April 16. Read more...

Sign Up for Poetry Reading at Starbucks
The Undergraduate English Council is sponsoring a poetry reading on Thursday, April 24, at 8 p.m. in honor of English Week. If you would like to read, e-mail Ben Thompson at rthomps6@mail.rochester.edu. Both original submissions and other poets' works can be read and should be submitted via e-mail.

Reminder: Be Safe When Buying Online
Administration and Finance offers students these tips on credit-card safety online: "Credit card fraud on the Internet is on the rise. When you make a credit-card payment on the Internet, make sure the URL includes "https" and that the yellow lock icon appears in your browser. Be aware that anyone with whom you share the three- or four-digit code (from the back of your card) can use the information to make online transactions. If you believe your credit card has been compromised, cancel the card by contacting your bank."

Opening Party: American Impressionism
The preview party for American Impressionism: Paintings from the Phillips Collection at the Memorial Art Gallery will be on Saturday, April 12, from 8 to 11 p.m. See rarely exhibited paintings and enjoy live music, dancing, and food. Bookstore Sells T-Shirt, Hosts Food Drive
The winning T-shirt from the bookstore design contest is available for purchase, and 10 percent of sales will be donated to Foodlink. The bookstore is also hosting a food donation drive. Drop off non-perishable items through April 11. Read more...

Pride Network's Drag Show
Pride Network presents its annual show on Friday, April 11, from 8 to 10 p.m. in the May Room. The event features local drag queens and kings. Students can purchase tickets for $5 at the Common Market.

'Silent No More' Panel
Rochester Students for Life will host a panel on Sunday, April 13, at 8:15 p.m. in Sloan Auditorium, Goergen Hall. Three women from the "Silent No More" campaign will share their personal experiences with abortion. The evening will also include a presentation by the director of Women's Care Center, a local crisis pregnancy center.

Graduate Position Available
The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs in the Dean of Students Office is seeking applicants for graduate assistants for the award-winning Expectations for Excellence program for the next academic year. Dining News This Week
On Thursday, April 10, is a vegetarian dinner in the Meliora. Dishes include tomato-basil gazpacho, tofu gnocchi, and fruit sushi and will include vegan options. Call 275-7687 for details. On Saturday, April 12, the Glaceau Vitamin Water Truck will be on the Quad from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stop by for free samples, giveaways, and deals on vitamin water products. Saturday Night Fever
The annual Ugly Disco Bash takes place on Saturday, April 19, at the Riverside Convention Center at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. The event supports the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester. Read more...

"3-D View Has Neural Base"
A small area of the brain that combines visual and non-visual cues is behind our ability to perceive depth with one eye, a University team has discovered. "It looks as though in this area of the brain, the neurons are combining visual cues and non-visual cues to come up with a unique way to determine depth," says Greg DeAngelis, a professor in the department of brain and cognitive sciences.
