Wear Red for Heart Health on Wednesday
February 13 is the University's first Wear Red Day to promote cardiac care. Come to the heart-healthy Wilson Commons Wednesday lunch wearing red to win prizes, learn important ways to keep your heart healthy, cheer on friends in the Stairmaster Challenge, and enjoy a tasty lunch.

Student Entrepreneur Trade Show
A Star Wars merchandiser, a fashion designer, and other undergraduate entrepreneurs will showcase their business acumen on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Student Entrepreneur Trade Show. Sponsored by the University’s Center for Entrepreneurship, the trade show runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Hirst Lounge of Wilson Commons.

Dining Events
Monday: Comfort kitchen night in the Pit, 5 to 7:30 p.m., featuring savory meatloaf with garlic smashed potatoes and roasted green beans.

Wednesday: Heart-healthy dinner in Danforth in honor of American Heart Month

Thursday: Valentine’s Day dinner at the Meliora, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a special menu with your special someone.

D'Lions' 50th Anniversary Show
To commemorate a halfcentury of community service, the D’Lions are hosting "The Show" on Feb. 16, featuring the Midnight Ramblers, Vocal Point, UR Bhangra, Sihir Bellydancing, Off Broadway On Campus, In Between the Lines, Shane Campbell—Staton—Beat Boxing, Capoeira Mandinga, Roc the Raas, D’Motions, Ballet Performance Group, and Radiance. Tickets are $4. Strong Auditorium. 8 p.m.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with Boccaccio Fest
On Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, enjoy a bilingual, semi-dramatized reading by faculty, staff, and students of a selection of Boccaccio's stories from The Decameron from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Rush Rhees Library. Refreshments will be available at 11:45.

Celebrate Jody Asbury's Contributions
Students are invited to join a celebration of Jody Asbury’s accomplishments and retirement on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Wilson Commons. Asbury held many positions at the University, most recently dean of students. She has supported and encouraged countless students in her more than 30 years of service on campus.

Call for Art for Upcoming ArtAwake Exhibit
Students are invited to submit paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, interactive pieces, videographic work, installation pieces, sight and sound pieces, and performance art for ArtAwake, a synergistic evening of interactive art and music on March 28 in the Main Street Armory. Drug Law Reform Advocate Tells Her Story
Kemba Smith relates her experience as a promising African-American college student whose ill-fated relationship with an abusive drug dealer landed her in federal prison. Pardoned by President Clinton in 2000 and currently in law school, Smith will speak at the Interfaith Chapel from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14. Film on Africa's Forced Child Soldiers
The Africa Video & Film Series screens Ezra (2007), the first film to give an African perspective on the disturbing phenomenon of abducting children to serve as soldiers in the continent's recent civil wars. Wilson Commons, Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. For more information, contact the Frederick Douglass Institute for African and African-American Studies at 275-7235.

Valentine's Banquet on Friday
Enjoy a classy heart-healthy dinner and take a spin around the dance floor at the lpha Phi Sorority's Valentine's banquet in the Meliora on Friday, Feb. 15, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Cocktail attire is required and wearing red is encouraged. Tickets are $22 Declining + $3 Flex/Cash, with proceeds going to the Alpha Phi Foundation's cardiac care for women. Tickets are available in Wilson Commons.

Hockey Game and Open Skate
Join the University community as the Yellowjackets “swarm” Blue Cross Arena for the Amerks hockey game on Friday, Feb. 15. The evening begins with an student/alumni open skate from 4:30 to 6 p.m., followed by the game at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the Common Market in Wilson Commons. Skate rentals are free, but limited; bring your own if possible.

Dining Services Presentation Online
In response to the overwhelming interest in the recent town hall meeting on residential life and dining services, the Students' Association has posted a copy of the presentation made by dining services on the Hive.

Kauffman Entrepreneurial Year Program
Learn about the Kauffman Entrepreneurial Year and how to apply on Monday, Feb. 20, in Lattimore Hall 311 at 4 p.m. The deadline is March 20.

Black History Celebration Today at MAG
Enjoy a jazz performance by Jimmie Highsmith Jr., tours of Wild by Design: 200 Years of Innovation and Artistry in American Quilts, an art talk on a ritual mask from Sierra Leone, West Africa, and more at the Memorial Art Gallery today from noon to 5 p.m. Admission free.

Donate a Shirt, Get a Shirt
Donate shirts, shorts, or pants in good condition and receive a free University long-sleeved shirt in exchange. Only one free shirt per person while supplies last. Donated clothes will be given to Alternatives for Battered Women. Sponsored by the D'Lions and S.T.I.N.G., donations will be collected on Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Hirst Lounge.

Tiernan Project Spaghetti Dinner
The Tiernan Project invites prospective members to a spaghetti dinner on Feb. 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Tiernan Community Room. The evening is a chance to talk to professors, deans, and others in a casual setting. Tiernanites are asked to help set up and clean up. After Hours performance is planned.

Say 'Benvenuto' to Italian Students
Stop by Wilson Commons at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, to say “benvenuto” to 19 Italian students from the University of Siena in Arezzo, Italy, who will be visiting the River Campus throughout the week. The visitors will be staying with University students who participated in the Arezzo Study Abroad Program and other students interested in cross-cultural exchange.

Big Band Swing Dance
Dip, twirl, and bop with a partner at the first-ever Big Band Swing dance hosted by the UR Ballroom Dancers, the Eastman School of Music Student Association, and the 2010 Class Council. The event features a live, 20-piece big band from Eastman and takes place Friday, Feb. 29, from 9 p.m. to midnight in Douglass Dining Center. Tickets go on sale this week. Read more ...

MAGnificent Inspiration brings together 36 works by 30 area quilters, whose art quilts respond to works in Memorial Art Gallery's permanent collection. Students enjoy free admission to the gallery with ID. Read more...

The University's sports teams are on the road this week, with the men's and women's basketball teams playing Washington today and Brandeis on Friday.

The men's and women's track teams travel to Cornell on Saturday, Feb. 16, for the Kane Invitational.
