Both Basketball Teams Advance to 'Sweet 16'
Both the men's and women's basketball teams won their second-round NCAA Division III playoff games on Saturday night. The men beat Penn State-Behrend 65-56 in the Palestra and the women defeated Medaille College 69-50 in Scranton, PA. Read more about the men's and women's games online.

Limited Hours Set During Break
Staying on campus over the break? Many campus services are open, but on a limited basis. Check online schedules for Dining, Wilson Commons, and the Goergen Athletic Center for hours.

Student Life Awards Application Due March 17
Applications for the Student Life Awards, including recommendation letters, are due Monday, March 17, by 5 p.m. in the Dean of Students Office, 510 Wilson Commons. No late applications will be accepted.

Break Schedule for Buses
The RED and BLUE lines will be operating over break on a limited schedule. Students remaining on campus may also use the discount taxi service for local trips. Tickets are available from the River Campus Parking Office, and Hylan, Susan B. Anthony, and Dewey Hall vending machines.   

Help Recruit Graduate Head Residents
The Office of Residential Life is seeking applicants for Graduate Head Resident (GHR) positions for the 2008-09 academic year. GHRs are full-time graduate students who live in undergraduate residence halls where they work to build healthy residential communities and to foster a lively intellectual environment. GHRs are provided with a furnished apartment and a $4,000 stipend. Applications for are due Friday, March 31. For more information and applications contact ghrselection@reslife.rochester.edu.

Sustainability Lecture
As part of the sustainable energy lecture series organized by KEY students, Daniel Nocera, professor of energy and of chemistry at MIT, presents "Powering the Planet: The Challenge for Chemistry in the 21st Century" on Tuesday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. at Sloan Auditorium in Goergen Hall. 'A Blazers and Heels Affair'
LUL and PDPsi Fraternities are hosting a dance at the Keg/German House, 315 Gregory Street in Rochester, on Friday, March 21, from 10 to 2 p.m. The event features DJ HeavYNeSS—the College Party Assassin spinning hip hop, reggae, salsa, and more. Tickets are $6 for women, $8 for men.

Learn about a Career in Nursing
The School of Nursing has an accelerated program for students who graduate with a non-nursing baccalaureate. Individual half-hour appointments are available with the director of admissions on Thursday, April 17. Call 275-2375 or e-mail elaine_andolina@urmc.rochester.edu.

Salman Rushdie, Umberto Eco Read Together
Two of the most respected international authors of our time, Salman Rushdie and Umberto Eco, will read from their work and discuss literature at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the auditorium at the Alumni and Advancement Center, 300 East River Road. Part of the PEN World Voices Festival, the event is being hosted by Open Letter, the University's new press dedicated to publishing works of literature in translation. Sign Language Storytelling Program
Guy Wonder, artist-in-residence at the Rochester School for the Deaf, leads an American Sign Language storytelling program that explores selected artworks from the Memorial Art Gallery's collection. The program will be voice interpreted for the hearing, and students enjoy free admission. March 15, 1 to 3 p.m. at the gallery.

No home games are scheduled during break week, and the Goergen Athletic Center will be closed Sunday, March 9, and next weekend, March 15 and 16. Click here for the center's reduced weekday hours during break.
