Discussion with Rochester City Mayor
A town hall meeting with Mayor Robert Duffy will be held on Thursday, April 3, in Hoyt Auditorium. Duffy will talk about urban development, safety, sustainability, and connections between the students and the city. Refreshments will be served.

Housing Tours Today and Tuesday
Tours of University housing continue today and on April 1. To tour the Tower housing today from 2 to 4 p.m., meet at the Wilder Recreation Room (basement of Wilder Tower); to tour the Southside living areas today from 2 to 4 p.m., meet at the Southside service desk (Valentine Tower Lobby).To tour the new Riverview community on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m., meet at the main entrance to the construction site on Plymouth Avenue.

5K Run/Walk for Health
UR Well Student Outreach will hold its fourth annual Run/Walk on Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. at Genesee Valley Park. The first 300 registrants will receive a T-shirt and raffle entry. Proceeds will benefit UR Well Student Outreach and St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center. Pre-registration is $15; registration is $20 on race day. To pre-register, visit www.urwell.org.

And the Winner of the T-Shirt Contest Is...
The winning design in the T-shirt contest is available for purchase at the bookstore. Ten percent of sales will be donated to Foodlink. The bookstore is also hosting a food donation drive—drop off nonperishable items through April 11.

Trips to the Public Market
You can now catch a shuttle to the Public Market every Saturday. Pick up the Green Line bus at ITS or the corner of Wilson Blvd. and Intercampus Dr. The shuttle runs from 7:45 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. and stops at Alexander St. and East Ave. on the return trip. Financing Your Start-Up
Learn how to finance your business by attending the Mark Ain Business Model Workshop on Thursday, April 3, at 4:30 p.m. The workshop, "Financial Feasibility: Early Stage Financial Modeling and Sources of Financing," will be held in Schlegel Hall, Room 102, and pizza will be provided. Read more...

HPV Vaccine Clinic
The University Health Service is offering the HPV vaccine (Gardasil) on Thursday, April 3, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the UHS Office in Susan B. Anthony Hall. No appointments are needed. Read more...

Relay for Life
This all-night fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will include performances by BPG, D'Motions, Radiance, Sihir Bellydance, and After Hours. Colleges Against Cancer will host dodgeball and basketball tournaments and a chubby bunny contest. Register at

Foreign Film Screening and Talk
The second annual International Lecture Series presented by Modern Languages and Cultures Undergraduate Council continues on Wednesday, April 2, at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion and film screening of Central do Brasil (Central Station) in Dewey Hall 2162. The movie will be introduced by Raul Rodriguez-Hernandez, associate professor of Spanish.

Newman Cup 2008
The Catholic Newman community hosts its annual soccer tournament on Friday, April 4, from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at Fauver Stadium. Registration is $25 per team of five to eight people. Proceeds will benefit migrant farm workers in western New York. Space is limited. Graduation Fair
The bookstore is holding a fair on Friday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Order your cap and gown and class ring, and get your picture taken in your regalia. Call 275-4012 or visit the Web site.

Medieval Society Talk
Alan Lupack, director of the Robbins Library and adjunct professor of English, will give a talk on Lord Alfred Tennyson's "Sir Galahad" on Wednesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. in the Robbins Library in Rush Rhees Library.

Play Twister for Charity
Sigma Delta Tau's Twister Tournament is on Friday, April 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Hirst Lounge in Wilson Commons. Participation costs $6 for each team of four to five people. Proceeds benefit Prevent Child Abuse America. For more information, visit Facebook event, "SDT's Twister Tournament."

Local Foods Fair
Students, faculty, and staff can enjoy foods from local businesses while learning about UR Fair Trade, Grassroots, Rochester Roots, Freshwise Farm, Community Farmers Markets, and Rochester Slow Food on Monday in Danforth Dining Center from 4:45 to 8:30 p.m.

Film on Global Warming
Grassroots will host a film screening on Tuesday, April 1, at 8 p.m. in Morey Hall 321. The screening of the documentary, Everything's Cool: A Toxic Comedy About Global Warming! is part of Fossil Fool Days celebrations, a campaign to increase awareness of reliance on oil, coal, and natural gas.

Commencement Volunteers Needed
The Commencement Committee is looking for students interested in helping during the College Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 18. Responsibilities include assisting and directing guests. Opening Party: American Impressionism
The preview party for American Impressionism: Paintings from the Phillips Collection at the Memorial Art Gallery will be on Saturday, April 12, from 8 to 11 p.m. See rarely exhibited paintings and enjoy live music, dancing, and food. History Channel to Feature University
An episode of the History Channel's "The Universe" featuring the University is scheduled to air on Tuesday, April 1, at 9 p.m. The crew filmed Adam Frank, professor of physics and astronomy, explaining scientific principles surrounding astronomical nebulae by using metaphors involving basketball players and spectators. The segment features physics students and footage from the basketball doubleheader vs. NYU.

Mela Preview Week
ADITI will host several events this week, including screenings of Bollywood videos in Hirst Lounge, Monday, March 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and free giveaways on Thursday, April 3, at Hillside, at 8 p.m.The 21st annual Mela show is on Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. in Strong Auditorium, and a dinner follows in the Douglass Dining Center. Purchase tickets for the show and dinner for $11 or for the performance only at $3 at the Common Market.

Build Your Resume
The Inter Class Living Community and Career Center will sponsor a workshop for resume building and finding a job on campus on Wednesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. in the Career Center Library. There will be free pizza and refreshments.

Nominations for Teaching Awards
The Goergen Awards have been presented at the College Convocation since 1997. Three distinguished awards recognize strong contributions and achievement in undergraduate teaching. Students should submit their nominations to Dean of the College Richard Feldman by April 30. Read more...

Fred Hagen, research assistant professor of biochemistry and biophysics, is interviewed about a study he worked on, that identified all of the unique proteins found in human saliva glands: "This is potentially a large field that has many clinical implications in the area of disease diagnostics."
