Weight Management
In January 2008, Well-U is piloting two weight management programs for employees. Regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff at the University of Rochester interested in a weight management program can choose between Weight Watchers at Work or Weigh-Well (offered by Well-U and the School of Nursing’s Weight Management Center). Employees must make full payment upfront for the program they choose. To support your weight management efforts, eligible employees who successfully complete the program will be eligible for a reimbursement of 50% of the program cost. Employees must remain in a benefit-eligible position throughout the completion of the program and must complete the program by attending every class.
Weight Watchers
- Price: $175.00
- Length: 16 weeks
- Location: University of Rochester Medical Center
- Time: lunch hour
Weight Watchers works with two plans; the “Points” plan and the “Core” plan. The “Points” plan combines calories, fat, and fiber into one number. Every person will have a different number of points dependant on body type and weight loss goal; The “Core” plan functions without points, focusing on healthful eating. There is no packaged food required in the Weight Watchers program; all food can simply be found in the grocery store. Meetings are typically between 30 minutes and 1 hour, and are held either before, or after work. All Weight Watchers weigh-ins are confidential.
Weigh-Well
• Price: $200.00
• Length: 10 weeks
• Location: School of Nursing
• Time: lunch hour
The “Weigh-Well” program will focus on teaching employees behaviors that all aid in healthy weight management. Hour long classes will be held at the School of Nursing, each with different topics. These topics will include nutrition, behavior, exercise, and others teaching healthy life-styles. The goal of “Weigh-Well” is to not only assist employees in healthy weight loss, but to help them sustain the behaviors ascertained during the 10 week session.
