Layoff/Recall
Layoffs can occur as a response to the need to reduce
the number of employees because of lack of work or funds. Those employees
on indefinite layoff (4 -12 months) who have one or more years of continuous
service will be eligible for severance pay; those on temporary layoff
(less than 4 months) will not be eligible for severance pay. Recalls will
be in reverse order of layoff, provided the employee to be recalled has
the ability to perform the duties involved. Those employees on layoff
for more than one year will be terminated.

Resignation/Termination
Hourly paid, non-exempt employees are expected to provide
at least 2 weeks separation notice. Salaried and hourly paid exempt employees
are expected to provide notice at least 30 calendar days prior to the
last working day. If the University terminates an individual for reasons
other than serious misconduct, 2 weeks’ notice may be provided to hourly
paid (non-exempt) employees and 30 calendar days notice to salaried and
hourly-paid exempt employees, depending on the circumstances.
