Paycheck
Deposit
Through arrangements
made by the University, direct deposit of paychecks to personal checking
or savings accounts may be made with most banks and credit unions within
the continental United States.
Enrollment or change in account information can be completed online by logging on to the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) at http://www.rochester.edu/people and clicking on Employee Home, Payroll and Compensation Home, then Direct Deposit, or by completing a form available at the Payroll Office.

Deductions
Several mandatory
deductions are made automatically from all payroll checks. These include
federal and state income taxes and social security taxes. Optional deductions,
such as healthcare coverage or other benefits, parking fees, and contributions
to the United Way, may also be made.

Explanation
of Pay
The University’s
paycheck stub provides regular information about pay, deductions, and
vacation balances. Questions about your accrued vacation or pay should
be directed to your immediate supervisor. Questions concerning the status
of your W-4 form for withholding or tax exemptions should be directed
to Payroll. W-4 forms are available
from Payroll.

Holiday
Pay
Hourly paid employees
who work on a designated University holiday will receive double time for
working the holiday. Time-as-reported staff who work on a holiday will
be paid double time.

Pay Days
Hourly paid employees
are paid bi-weekly and receive their paychecks and/or deposit notices
on the Friday following the pay period end date. If your shift ends at
9 p.m. or later on Thursday, your paycheck may be given to you at the
end of your shift on Thursday.
Salaried employees
whose annual earnings fall within or below state and federal guidelines
are also paid bi-weekly. Salaried employees whose annual earnings fall
above state and federal guidelines are paid monthly on the last workday
of each month.
Regulations prohibit
the release of an employee’s paycheck to another person without a signed
release form and proper identification.

Procedures
for Attendance That May Be Affected by Severe Weather Conditions and Other
Emergencies
It is the policy
of the University to remain open and continue essential functions during
severe weather conditions and other emergencies, transportation or utility
problems, or similar interruptions.
All bargaining unit
employees should refer to their collective bargaining agreements.
You may call the
Telephone Bulletin (275-6111) for emergency information concerning the
status of University operations during severe weather or listen to local
radio and television stations.

Wage Garnishments
The University is
required by law, when served with an income execution, wage assignment,
family court support order, or federal tax levy against an employee, to
make deductions from the individual’s pay until the debt is paid. Questions
should be referred to Payroll.
