Paycheck Deposit

Through arrangements made by the University, direct deposit of paychecks to personal checking or savings accounts may be made with most banks and credit unions within the continental United States.

Enrollment or change in account information can be completed online by logging on to the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) at http://www.rochester.edu/people and clicking on Employee Home, Payroll and Compensation Home, then Direct Deposit, or by completing a form available at the Payroll Office.

Deductions

Several mandatory deductions are made automatically from all payroll checks. These include federal and state income taxes and social security taxes. Optional deductions, such as healthcare coverage or other benefits, parking fees, and contributions to the United Way, may also be made.

Explanation of Pay

The University’s paycheck stub provides regular information about pay, deductions, and vacation balances. Questions about your accrued vacation or pay should be directed to your immediate supervisor. Questions concerning the status of your W-4 form for withholding or tax exemptions should be directed to Payroll. W-4 forms are available from Payroll.

Policy 330

Holiday Pay

Hourly paid employees who work on a designated University holiday will receive double time for working the holiday. Time-as-reported staff who work on a holiday will be paid double time.

Pay Days

Hourly paid employees are paid bi-weekly and receive their paychecks and/or deposit notices on the Friday following the pay period end date. If your shift ends at 9 p.m. or later on Thursday, your paycheck may be given to you at the end of your shift on Thursday.

Salaried employees whose annual earnings fall within or below state and federal guidelines are also paid bi-weekly. Salaried employees whose annual earnings fall above state and federal guidelines are paid monthly on the last workday of each month.

Regulations prohibit the release of an employee’s paycheck to another person without a signed release form and proper identification.
