{"id":254816,"date":"2007-08-21T15:10:23","date_gmt":"2007-08-21T15:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2007\/08\/21\/publishing-things-that-make-me-cry\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T17:38:47","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T17:38:47","slug":"publishing-things-that-make-me-cry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2007\/08\/21\/publishing-things-that-make-me-cry\/","title":{"rendered":"Publishing Things That Make Me Cry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I remember seeing the larger-than-life posters at <span class=\"caps\">BEA<\/span> a couple of years ago, but I naively believed that this was a fever-dream that would never become reality . . . unfortunately, the Harlequin-<span class=\"caps\">NASCAR<\/span> partnership has been even more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/galleycat\/trends\/checking_in_on_the_harlequinnascar_partnership_65459.asp?c=rss\">successful<\/a> than anyone predicted. <\/p>\n<p>Although this is a serious blow to my belief in humanity, I should&#8217;ve seen it coming. I mean, who doesn&#8217;t want to read <i>Speed Dating<\/i>, the cover of which prominently features a <span class=\"caps\">NASCAR<\/span> car, a scruffy, blond-haired dude with passionate eyes, and the exellent slogan, &#8220;Feel the <span class=\"caps\">RUSH<\/span> on and off the track.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And after you&#8217;re done with that, who wouldn&#8217;t move on to read <i>Full Throttle, No Time to Lose,<\/i> and <i>Speed Bumps<\/i>?<\/p>\n<p>Jesus, I&#8217;m going to go vomit now and ball myself up in the corner of my office. . . . <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I remember seeing the larger-than-life posters at BEA a couple of years ago, but I naively believed that this was a fever-dream that would never become reality . . . unfortunately, the Harlequin-NASCAR partnership has been even more successful than anyone predicted.
