{"id":260306,"date":"2008-02-15T13:40:45","date_gmt":"2008-02-15T13:40:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2008\/02\/15\/new-issue-of-exchanges\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T17:34:34","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T17:34:34","slug":"new-issue-of-exchanges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2008\/02\/15\/new-issue-of-exchanges\/","title":{"rendered":"New Issue of eXchanges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The new issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uiowa.edu\/~xchanges\/winter2008\/table_of_contents.html\"><i>eXchanges<\/i><\/a>, the online literary translation journal from the University of Iowa is now available online. <\/p>\n<p>Few interesting pieces included in this issue, especially Martha Tennent&#8217;s translation of Merce Rodoreda&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uiowa.edu\/~xchanges\/winter2008\/train.html\">On the Train<\/a>, a short story from <i>Twenty-Two Stories,<\/i> in which &#8220;we overhear one side of a conversation, that of an elderly woman returning to Barcelona after the Civil War.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Rodoreda&#8217;s a fascinating figure, and considered to be one of Catalan&#8217;s greatest writers. She passed away in 1983, and a few of her titles are available in English. Graywolf Press has published <i>The Time of the Doves,<\/i> and <i>Camilla Street,<\/i> and University of Nebraska brought out <i>A Broken Mirror<\/i>, which we reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/index.php?id=214\">here<\/a>.  It&#8217;s more than a year off in the future, but we will be bringing out her surreal last novel, <i>Death and Springtime.<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new issue of eXchanges, the online literary translation journal from the University of Iowa is now available online.
