On the air in Sarajevo and under the radar in S\u00e3o Paulo, in chilly garrets and overheated classrooms, tables turn, lives go topsy-turvy, and the only order is \u201cAbout-face!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some great authors featured in this issue, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordswithoutborders.org\/?lab=SorokinFarewell\">Farewell to the Queue<\/a> by Vladimir Sorokin (this is an afterword to <em>The Queue<\/em>, which is coming out this fall from <span class=\"caps\">NYRB<\/span>, and which is fantastic), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordswithoutborders.org\/?lab=KisModel\">The Model<\/a> by Danilo Kis, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordswithoutborders.org\/?lab=DeAssisJustice\">Justice Unbalanced<\/a> by Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis (I love, love, love repeating Machado de Assis&#8217;s name . . . just rolls off the tongue in a exotic, fun way). <\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also an excerpt from Suzane Adam&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordswithoutborders.org\/?lab=DeAssisJustice\"><em>Laundry<\/em>,<\/a> which recently came out from Autumn Hill Books, and a review of Ana Maria Shua&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordswithoutborders.org\/?lab=ShuaQuickiReview\">Quick Fix,<\/a> from the ever interesting, White Pine Press.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of other pieces as well, all worth checking out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new issue of Words Without Borders is now available online, and this month&#8217;s theme is &#8220;Reversals&#8221;: We\u2019re prolonging summer with another month of flip-flops, as international writers contemplate the reversals of various fortunes.
