Anyway, this issue is entitled &#8220;Lovers,&#8221; a theme backed up on the <span class=\"caps\">PEN<\/span> website with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/5436\/prmID\/1502\">this forum,<\/a> which you can participate in, and which currently features various authors writing about &#8220;a writer who is especially dear to you\u2014a literary mentor, forebear, friend, or lover . . .&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, in terms of contents, the highlights, in my opinion, are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/5426\/prmID\/1865\">Admiration<\/a> and &#8220;The Decision&#8221; by Quim Monzo, translated by Mary Ann Newman (<span class=\"caps\">LOVE<\/span> Monzo, especially the stories in <em>Guadalajara<\/em>, which we&#8217;re bringing out next month);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Probabilidad&#8221; by Eloy Urroz, and translated by Ezra E. Fitz;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Endless Arrival&#8221; is a transcript of a conversation with Adam Gopnik, Eduardo Lago, Anne Landsman, Jose Manuel Prieto, and Salman Rushdie that took place during the last <span class=\"caps\">PEN<\/span> World Voices Festival. (I actually caught this event . . .);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Geographies of the Possible&#8221; is a conversation with Alberto Mobilio, Inga Kuznetsova, Jonathan Lethem, Eshkol Nevo, and Andrzej Stasiuk that also took place during the last <span class=\"caps\">PEN<\/span> World Voices, but which I missed;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Speaking of Eshkol Nevo (whose <em>Homesick<\/em> received a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/index.php?id=2911\">very nice review<\/a> from Three Percent mainstay Monica Carter), this issue also includes a piece by him entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/5428\/prmID\/1865\">Before the Next World Cup,<\/a> and translated by Sondra Silverston;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And there are many other translations, including pieces by Ameile Nothomb, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/5434\/prmID\/1502\">Faraj Bayrakdar,<\/a> Laura Lindstedt, Arthur Rimbaud, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/5429\/prmID\/1502\">Natalia Sannikova,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/5430\/prmID\/1502\">Akinwumi Isola,<\/a> Linor Goralik, and Dea Loher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can find most of this issue available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/page.php\/prmID\/150\">here,<\/a> and you can order the complete issue <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pen.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/5299\/prmID\/1502\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"ad_banner\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.openletterbooks.org\/authors\/12-pilch#mighty\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/images\/255.jpg\"  \/><\/a>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Also arriving in yesterday&#8217;s mail was the new issue of PEN America, making it a pretty big day in literary magazines . . .
