Coss\u00e9 will read from <em>A Novel Bookstore<\/em>, discuss her forthcoming novel <em>An Accident in August<\/em> and speak with World Literature Today editor Michelle Johnson about literature as catalyst of social debate and about the role of the independent bookseller in today\u2019s consumer culture.<\/p>\n<p>Laurence Coss\u00e9 is the author of nine novels, including <em>A Corner of the Veil<\/em> (Scribner, 1999). Her most recent book, <em>A Novel Bookstore<\/em> (Europa Editions, 2010) is the story of an idealistic Parisian bookstore whose shelves are stocked with only \u2018good novels\u2019 selected by a top secret committee of contemporary writers. The novel was hailed as \u201ccaptivating fiction\u201d (San Francisco Chronicle) that \u201cfurnishes sly commentary about gatekeeping in the literary world\u201d (PW).
