{"id":287996,"date":"2011-11-03T18:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-11-03T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2011\/11\/03\/time-for-an-announcement-alta-2012\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T16:16:51","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T16:16:51","slug":"time-for-an-announcement-alta-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2011\/11\/03\/time-for-an-announcement-alta-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Time for An Announcement [ALTA 2012]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With <a href=\"http:\/\/www.utdallas.edu\/alta\/conference\/current-conference\">this year&#8217;s American Literary Translators Association conference<\/a> just around the corner (Kansas City better prepare itself), this seems like a good time to announce that the 2012 conference will take place from October 3-6 right <em>here<\/em> in Rochester, NY. <\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll be posting a lot of details about this over the next few months, but I really wanted to share my excitement about being able to host one of the best annual conferences out there. <span class=\"caps\">ALTA<\/span> is the best place to network with other translators, to discuss interesting facets of translation, and to generally have a good time.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"caps\">ALTA<\/span> Rochester is going to be amazing, with the host hotel being the <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/www.strathallan.com\/\">Strathallan<\/a> and most of the events taking place at the <a href=\"http:\/\/http:\/\/mag.rochester.edu\/\">Memorial Art Gallery.<\/a> On top of that though, we&#8217;ll have a lot of after-hours stuff going on throughout the city, and I&#8217;m personally committed to making this one of the most memorable <span class=\"caps\">ALTA<\/span>s ever. (I realize how that might sound, especially considering my unwavering desire to throw a rave in Rochester&#8217;s abandoned subway system.
