{"id":290136,"date":"2012-05-02T15:52:50","date_gmt":"2012-05-02T15:52:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2012\/05\/02\/chads-top-10-stories\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T16:11:40","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T16:11:40","slug":"chads-top-10-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2012\/05\/02\/chads-top-10-stories\/","title":{"rendered":"Chad&#39;s Top 10 Stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The other week, Paul Vidich, who I met in Sozopol, Bulgaria and who runs the very cool <a href=\"http:\/\/storyvilleapp.com\">Storyville App,<\/a> asked me to contribute to their <a href=\"http:\/\/storyvilleapp.com\/top-10s\/\">Top 10 Stories<\/a> feature. <\/p>\n<p>As it says in the introduction to <a href=\"http:\/\/storyvilleapp.com\/top-10\/chad-posts-top-10\/\">my list,<\/a> I gave it my &#8220;best shot.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few of the stories I chose:<\/p>\n<p>1. &#8220;Continuity of Parks,\u201d Julio Cort\u00e1zar \u2013 Kind of have to make this number 1, since it was the first story I read in Spanish that totally blew my mind . . . And created a life-long passion for Cort\u00e1zar.<\/p>\n<p>3. &#8220;Entropy,\u201d Thomas Pynchon \u2013 I love Pynchon so much, I\u2019d tattoo him on my arm. His stories may be so-so, but his comments about women\u2019s hair are brilliant: \u201cI will spare everybody a detailed discussion of all the over-writing that occurs in these stories, except to mention how distressed I am at the number of tendrils that keep showing up. I still don\u2019t even know for sure what a tendril is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>6. &#8220;Her Sense of Timing,\u201d Stanley Elkin \u2013 This is one of those stories that\u2019s hilarious, since it\u2019s not happening to you.
