I told you that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/index.php?id=6162\">two of the finalists for the French-American Translation Prize<\/a> made it; I mentioned that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/index.php?id=6212\">three of the <span class=\"caps\">IFFP<\/span> longlist<\/a> are also on our list; I eliminated five titles (<em>The Obscent Madame D<\/em>, <em>The Canvas<\/em>, <em>Pow!<\/em>, <em>Necropolis<\/em>, and <em>Almost Never<\/em>); and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/index.php?id=6182\">I gave you this photo.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With all that in hand, you should rampantly speculate in the comments below, or on Twitter (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chadwpost\">@chadwpost,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/open_letter\">@open_letter<\/a>), or at our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/openletterbooks\">Facebook page.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>And to give you a bit more ammunition for your speculation, here are a few facts about this year&#8217;s Best Translated Book Award Fiction Longlist:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Fifteen different presses<\/b> are represented on this year&#8217;s list, including one that has four books on the list, and two that have three titles each;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>There are books from <b>nineteen different countries,<\/b> including three titles from Asian countries, six from Eastern Europe, and two from the Middle East. Surprisingly (?) there are only three titles from Latin America on the list;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Books from <b>thirteen different languages<\/b> comprise the list, including six translated from French;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Only <b>four women writers<\/b> made the list this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>OK, granted, that&#8217;s not a lot to go on, but Tweet me up with your guesses . . .
