{"id":295396,"date":"2013-10-24T18:40:38","date_gmt":"2013-10-24T18:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2013\/10\/24\/btba-2013-poetry-committee\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T14:39:28","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T14:39:28","slug":"btba-2013-poetry-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2013\/10\/24\/btba-2013-poetry-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"BTBA 2013 Poetry Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OK, I&#8217;ve been promising this for a long time, but I&#8217;ve finally got my stuff together and have information on the five judges for this year&#8217;s <span class=\"caps\">BTBA<\/span> in Poetry. <\/p>\n<p>Bios for all five can be found below, and for publishers looking to submit their books, here is a <span class=\"caps\">PDF<\/span> of mailing list label that you can use, and here&#8217;s one with everyone&#8217;s email addresses if you&#8217;d rather submit electronically. <\/p>\n<p>As with the <span class=\"caps\">BTBA<\/span> in Fiction, any book published for the first time <em>ever<\/em> in translation between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013, <span class=\"caps\">AND<\/span> available for sale in the United States is eligible. To enter a book in the contest, all you have to do is (e)mail a copy to all of the judges. (And one to me for record-keeping.) <\/p>\n<p>In terms of timeframes, all poetry books should be sent to the judges by <b>January 31st, 2014.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The finalists for this year&#8217;s Poetry award will be announced on Tuesday, April 15th at the same time as the Fiction finalists. <\/p>\n<p>OK, now onto this year&#8217;s judges:<\/p>\n<p><b>Stefania Heim<\/b> is author of the collection of poems, <em>A Table that Goes on for Miles<\/em> (forthcoming January 2014 Switchback Books). Her poems, translations, and works of criticism have appeared widely, in publications including <em>A Public Space<\/em>, <em>Aufgabe<\/em>, <em>Harper&#8217;s<\/em>, <em>Jacket2<\/em>, <em>The Literary Review<\/em>, and <em>The Paris Review.<\/em> She is a founding editor of <em><span class=\"caps\">CIRCUMFERENCE<\/span>: Poetry in Translation<\/em> and will soon be joining the <em>Boston Review<\/em> as a new Poetry Editor.<\/p>\n<p><b>Bill Martin<\/b> is a translator, critic, and educator, and co-organizer of The Bridge reading series for literary translation. <\/p>\n<p><b>Rebecca McKay<\/b> is a poet and translator based at Florida Atlantic University. Her poems and translations have appeared in <em>American Letters &amp; Commentary<\/em>, <em><span class=\"caps\">ACM<\/span><\/em>, <em>Third Coast<\/em>, <em>The Iowa Review<\/em>, <em>Hotel Amerika<\/em>, <em>Rhino<\/em>, <em>Natural Bridge<\/em>, <em>Rattapallax<\/em>, and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p><b>Daniele Pantano<\/b> is a Swiss poet, translator, editor, critic, and Reader in Poetry and Literary Translation at Edge Hill University, England. She holds an <span class=\"caps\">MFA<\/span> from the University of Iowa and a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine. She is the author of <em>By Way of Explanation<\/em> (Dancing Girl Press) and the translator of Jos\u00e9 Eugenio S\u00e1nchez&#8217;s <em>Suite Prelude a\/H1N1<\/em> (Toad Press) and Roc\u00edo Cer\u00f3n&#8217;s <em>Diorama<\/em> (Phoneme Press).
