{"id":298856,"date":"2014-08-06T16:05:00","date_gmt":"2014-08-06T16:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wdev.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent-dev\/2014\/08\/06\/btba-2015-the-judges\/"},"modified":"2018-04-16T14:39:25","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T14:39:25","slug":"btba-2015-the-judges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rochester.edu\/College\/translation\/threepercent\/2014\/08\/06\/btba-2015-the-judges\/","title":{"rendered":"BTBA 2015: The Judges!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although it wasn&#8217;t all that long ago that L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Krasznahorkai and Elisa Biagini won the Best Translated Book Award, but it&#8217;s already time to look ahead to the 2015 iteration&#8212;the first step of which is announcing the new group of judges. <\/p>\n<p>Similar to years past, the fiction panel will consist of nine members, and five for poetry. <\/p>\n<p>The fiction group consists of: George Carroll (Northwest Publishers&#8217; Representative, <em>Shelf Awareness<\/em>), Monica Carter (<em>Salonica<\/em>), James Crossley (Island Books), Scott Esposito (Center for the Art of Translation, <em>Conversational Reading<\/em>), Jeremy Garber (Powells), Katrine \u00d8gaard Jensen (<em>Asymptote<\/em>), Madeleine LaRue (<em>Music &amp; Literature<\/em>), Daniel Medin (American University of Paris, Cahiers Series), and Michael Orthofer (<em>Complete Review<\/em>). <\/p>\n<p>Poetry is made up of: Biswamit Dwibedy (poet), Bill Martin (translator, co-founder of The Bridge), Dawn Lundy Martin (poet), Erica Mena-Landry (poet, translator, managing director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alta2014.org\/\"><span class=\"caps\">ALTA<\/span><\/a>) and Stefan Tobler (And Other Stories and translator). <\/p>\n<p>For all publishers\/authors\/translators out there who want their book(s) to be entered into the <span class=\"caps\">BTBA<\/span>, all you have to do is send a copy to each one of the judges (and one to me so that we can log it). You can send either a physical copy OR a <span class=\"caps\">PDF<\/span>\/ebook. Just make sure you send it before December 31, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Any work that&#8217;s available in the United States for the <em>first time ever<\/em> (no retranslations, new editions, etc.) that&#8217;s published between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014 is eligible.
