Julianna Darby, a clarinetist from Huntsville, Alabama, is completing her Master of Music
degree at the Eastman School of Music in the studio of Michael Wayne. During her time at
Eastman, she has appeared as a soloist with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, taught
secondary lessons to Eastman and University of Rochester students, and performed regularly
with the Eastman Philharmonia and Eastman Wind Ensemble. Julianna attended Vanderbilt
University's Blair School of Music as a Cornelius Vanderbilt scholar, where she studied with Bil
Jackson. In 2018 and 2019, she attended the Aspen Music Festival under the guidance of
Joaquin Valdapenas and Michael Rusinek. Julianna has a strong passion for collaboration and
chamber music, and has most recently played bass clarinet in the Sequoia Reed Quintet. She
is pursuing an orchestral career and looks forward to serving as a substitute clarinetist with the
New World Symphony and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago in the 2021-2022 season.
