Pianist Ailun Zheng studied at the Shanghai Conservatory with Zhe Tang (2008 - 2014),
Interlochen Arts Academy with Thomas Lymenstull (2014 - 2017), Eastman School of Music
with Nelita True (2017 - 2018), and is currently a student of Alexander Kobrin. In Shanghai,
Ailun won many awards including first prize of the 4th Chinese Music International Competition
in Japan and first prize in the 71st Steinway International Youth Piano Competition East China
Division. After coming to the states, she won the Interlochen Arts Academy Concerto
Competition twice in 2015 and 2016, and performed with their Orchestra. In 2014, she was the
MTNA Senior Piano Competition winner for Michigan, and was one of the finalists in the 8th
New York International Piano Competition in 2016. She has participated in many international
festivals, including the 2013 Perugia Music Festival where she performed with the Ashdod
Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai International Piano Festival & Institute, Bowdoin Music
Festival in 2015, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival in May 2016 where she played for Llyr Williams,
and the Art of Piano in the same year. After studying at Eastman, she went to the Amalfi Coast
Piano Festival in 2018, Valencia International Performance Academy in the summer of 2019,
and participated in the 2021 Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Academy. This year, she has also
won the first prize in the Young Artist Division of the Millersville International Piano Competition.
During her piano study, she has performed in master classes for Dang Thaisong, Fu Ts'ong,
Eduardus Halim, Barry Snyder, Robert McDonald, Pavel Neressian, Piotr Paleczny, Ewa
Poblocka, and others. She plans to pursue a professional career in piano and to continue
studying music in the future.
