Proposal for Faculty Club Improvements

The Faculty Club Subcommittee of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee has been meeting with the University Facilities & Services leadership team throughout the Fall 2017 semester to discuss serious concerns about the current Faculty Club and potential solutions for improving the club.

The Faculty Club Subcommittee members are:

  • LaRon E. Nelson (Nursing), Subcommittee chair
  • Joseph Eberly (Physics)
  • Udo Fehn (Earth & Environmental Sciences)
  • Ignacio Franco (Chemistry)
  • Phil Lederer (Simon)
  • Judith Smetana (Clinical & Social Psych)

In response to the subcommittee’s efforts, the administration has made some changes in service operations and has drafted a proposal for structural changes to expand the size of the club and improve some of the function (e.g., coat salon, private dining area, etc.) and character (e.g., noise abatement).

A copy of the administration’s latest proposal for faculty club improvements is now available.

Please take a moment to carefully review the proposal. If you have any feedback or questions, please send them via email to no later than 5:00pm on January 26, 2018.

The Faculty Club Subcommittee and the SEC will review a summary of the input and communicate a final recommendation to Holly Crawford (Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance) and her team in University Facilities and Services to inform their way forward with the plan for renovations.
