A note from the Dean

Greetings,

Thanks to alumni like you, the Eastman Institute for Oral Health continues to play a critical role in our local and global communities. We are reaching populations with limited access to care and treating patients with complex medical conditions. And we are driving forward the future of Advanced and Specialty dental training in ways that will benefit humanity for generations to come—“teaching” our communities in ways that will echo across lifetimes:

  • To address the dental assistant shortage, EIOH has developed its own training program whose graduates comprise a front line in improving dental health here in Rochester, and allowing the educational process to continue at many levels.
  • EIOH has increased its collaborations around the world to help students and residents become leaders in our various disciplines. In addition to our sister institutions in Paris, Rome, London, and Sweden, EIOH now has partnerships with Meharry Medical College in Tennessee, and with universities in Italy, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Israel, India, Argentina, Poland, and China.
  • The federal Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), the agency that accredits postsecondary dental education by the U.S. Department of Education, approved EIOH’s Dental Public Health Residency Program without any reporting requirements. This is in addition to the accredited programs in General Dentistry (three different programs), Orthodontics, Orofacial Pain, Pediatric dentistry. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics and Prosthodontics.

The support of alumni like you continues to make all this progress possible. Please consider joining your peers in supporting EIOH today. Thank you for your commitment to this extraordinary place and the exceptional people like you who have made it that way.

Sincerely,
Eli Eliav signature
