Little did we anticipate how crucial this fund would become when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020. The $2,300 raised during the inaugural campaign was quickly put to use, offering immediate relief to students facing unexpected challenges such as medical expenses, emergency housing, and travel costs for returning home.<\/p>\n Since 2020, the Basic Needs Hub on the River Campus has received over 550 emergency assistance requests annually from students, highlighting the growing need for support and the importance of replenishing the funds in real-time.
