School of Medicine and Dentistry Class Funds

Class of 1957 SMD Merit Scholarship Fund

This fund supports a merit-based scholarship. Its intent is to encourage a larger number of truly exceptional students to select Rochester for their medical school education. Many students currently graduate with debt substantially over $100,000, an enormous burden that the class members feel deters many able students across the socioeconomic spectrum from applying to medical school, thus resulting in a distortion in the mix of primary care physicians and specialists.
