- Dr. Ian Wilson is an assistant professor in the Department of Imaging Sciences at the School of Medicine and Dentistry. He is also the cofounder of the Synthesis Collaborative, a nonprofit organization that supports two initiatives: WALL\THERAPY, a local street-art festival, and IMPACT! (IMProving Access to Care by Teleradiology), a medical-philanthropy organization.
- Dr. Wilson received his bachelor's degree in biology from Xavier University of Louisiana and came to the University of Rochester to pursue his medical degree. After an internship at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, he returned to the School of Medicine and Dentistry to complete a residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowships in interventional radiology.
- Dr. Wilson's Synthesis Collaborative supports two missions: one local and one international in scope. Through WALL\THERAPY, the group hopes to inspire people within the community of Rochester through murals created by internationally acclaimed artists. The WALL\THERAPY project has produced nearly 100 murals throughout Rochester, including the St. Paul corridor and the Rochester Public Market area. Dr. Wilson even recruited local artists to design stairway murals for Highland Hospital. In addition to providing local inspiration, WALL\THERAPY raises awareness for IMPACT!, the organization’s international philanthropic effort.
