  • Senior vice president of Cloud Network Strategy and Technology at Infinera Corporation, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. A 30-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, he is credited with bringing to market the first disposable plastic fiber-optic delivery system. Elby joined Infinera, a California-based company that provides optical networking equipment, software, and services to telecom, cable, and Internet providers, from Verizon Labs, where he served as vice president and chief technologist. A member of the George Eastman Circle, Elby has served on the Dean's Advisory Committee for the Hajim School since 2013. He's also actively involved in several professional organizations, including the Optical Society and the Open Networking Foundation, and he has served on advisory boards of the New York State Centers for Advanced Technology.
