Location: Atlanta, GA
Major: Health & Society, Minors: ASL and Spanish
Company: Emory Center for Injury Control, Emory University School of Medicine
Title: Project Coordinator
During my time at UR, I: worked as an office assistant at Strong Memorial Hospital in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health; interned as a Research Assistant at the Greater Rochester Area Tobacco Cessation Center, part of the Department of Community & Preventive Medicine at the UR School of Medicine; volunteered at Planned Parenthood as a greeter; and worked as a Peer Health Educator at the UR Office of Health Promotion. These experiences helped me get into the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, which I attended right after UR. I obtained my Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in 2009, and was offered a full time job at the Emory Center for Injury Control, having previously interned here as a graduate student
What are your daily responsibilities?
The mission of our Center is to build the field of injury prevention and reduce injuries in Georgia by facilitating collaborations, supporting innovative research, training practitioners and researchers, and strengthening the bridge between science and practice. My job is to coordinate our administrative and research activities; evaluate our Center’s work and manage our database; and build our fundraising portfolio.
