What do you do?
As the JUSTICE Project Administrator, I work with project directors to enhance teachers’ preparation for underserved youth and youth with high-incidence disabilities.
How did you become interested in your field?
I joined Teach for America after graduating from the University of Rochester. A literacy mentoring program brought me into higher education and I have found my niche as I am able to work with undergraduates while affecting K–12 education.
What skills are vital for success in your field?
Curriculum development, program development, relationship building, grant writing, event planning.
What experiences, internships, study, or previous jobs helped you get to your current position?
Through my involvement in the Jumpstart and Urban Fellows Program at the University of Rochester, I gained the capacity to work with individuals of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and an understanding of diversity through participation in community based activities.
What advice do you have for current students interested in your field?
Never stop learning.
