Title: IT Portfolio Delivery Lead

What are your daily tasks and how do you support your organization?

My role primarily includes working with Project Managers, CIO & his reports, and other IT stakeholders to support the end to end delivery of the various IT initiatives the company is investing in. Daily tasks include working with our financial team to understand project investments, ROI, burn rates, and help manage the financial health of the portfolio.

What do you consider the most essential skills for this career?

Understanding business strategy and aligning the various corporate strategies to IT projects.

What advice do you have for students preparing for careers in your field?

Your career out of college may not perfectly align with your degree, it’s OK. The path to a great career for most people is not linear.

What do you wish you had known during your time at Rochester that you know now?

Just because you have a favorite subject, doesn’t mean you will want a career in that field. Try your best to participate in internships where you can experience working in a field you’re interested in. At end of an internship, you will have a better understanding of what individuals really do day to day in that role, and if it’s something you will want to do as a career.
