Exploring Careers by Major

You may wondering, “What can I do with my major?” or “What can I do if I declare this major?” We encourage you to move beyond the language of academic majors to articulate industries, job titles, and eventually employers, to maximize internship, job search and graduate school admissions success.

Resources below help you define academic as well as career goals in ways that can be transformed into strategies and desired outcomes.

Rochester Alumni - Find out what former Rochester students are doing and see how they got there.

What can I do with this major? – This resource can be particularly helpful when you are choosing a major or when you are looking for career fields/job titles that are related to your major.

Vault.com – Included on the site is the complete Vault Guide Library, including all Vault Guide books, numerous occupational profiles, and thousands of company snapshots. Access Vault.com through Handshake.

Career Cornerstone – This comprehensive resource is packed with information about careers in science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and health care.

WeUseMath.org – This non-profit website describes the importance of mathematics and many rewarding career opportunities available to students who study mathematics.
