Other than working here, what other campus activities are you involved in?<\/strong> Debate Union and Hillel<\/p>\n

What does community engagement mean to you? <\/strong>Community engagement involves active participation consistently with the members of the area where you live and thrive. It cannot be passive, it must be an intentional, driven, and direct interest in the well-being of those around you — and seeing that well-being as necessarily connected to your own.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to incoming first-years who want to get involved?<\/strong> Getting involved in Rochester is not mutually exclusive with your career-related work or academic work! The best community service involves creating long-term relationships and is mutually beneficial. I am sure that the job I get out of college will be directly related to the service I currently do for Helping Educate to Advance the Rights of Deaf Communities (HEARD).<\/p>\n

What’s your favorite winter activity in Rochester?<\/strong>\u00a0Lauren showed me the Highland Park Conservatory in December and I loved it! A nice warm contrast to the cold outside, and a very peaceful sanctuary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
