Medallion Leadership Society

The Medallion Leadership Society is an undergraduate student group dedicated to leadership. The society educates their peers to realize their leadership potential and become engaged members of the campus and surrounding communities, in an effort to achieve positive social change. 

Members in the society will participate in committees, have opportunities to meet with deans, and plan leadership programs for the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS).

After completing Level 3, you will be contacted with instructions on enrollment into the Medallion Leadership Society.

Ask An Expert

Interested in learning more about the Medallion Program? Want to talk to someone about it in person? Come to Ask an Expert! The hour before any regularly scheduled workshop, an expert from our Medallion Leadership Society will be available to meet with you in person to answer any general questions you have! Students in our Medallion Leadership Society are those who have already completed all three levels of the program and are happy to answer questions regarding the program, how to progress through the program's levels, and give advice regarding the Level 3 project.  You are welcome to come during Ask an Expert and stay throughout the following workshop, or to come ask your questions and leave before the workshop begins.

Normally scheduled workshops can be found on this schedule. Ask an Expert hours will generally be happening throughout the academic semester on Tuesday's from 5:30-6:30pm (before 6:30pm workshop) and Friday's from 2:00-3:00 (before 3:00pm workshop), and will take place in the location the workshop is scheduled.

Please note that if a workshops has canceled or postponed, there will not be an Ask an Expert hours that evening.

Member Responsibilities

Members divide their time within three areas:

  • Serving as a resource to students by:
    • Serving as leadership peer advocates who are available to other students for support and guidance.
    • Assisting in creating a network where students can be connected to leadership, service, and civic engagement resources.
    • Offering feedback on the ODOS leadership-related programs/initiatives, as well as assisting with any assessment.
    • Assisting with the promotion and advertisement of ODOS events, programs, opportunities, and other offerings.
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing leadership programming for students including:
    • Facilitating skill-based workshops for individual students, student groups, and student organizations.
    • Participating in leadership opportunities on other campuses.
    • Developing, planning, and implementing initiatives, programs, and activities within ODOS that focus on leadership development and education.
  • Performing other administrative duties such as:
    • Attending and actively participating in Medallion Leadership Society and other related committees when needed.
    • Developing creative ways to enhance and market leadership programs and opportunities.

Membership within the Medallion Leadership Society has a time commitment of at least 12 to 15 hours per semester. Required volunteer commitments include:

  • Participation in Fall and Mid-Year Leadership Training, including the Medallion Society Retreat (7 hours)
  • Attendance at the Recognition Ceremony to help with setup and breakdown (1.5 hours)
  • Volunteering once per semester at either an Ask Me How to Level Up event or a beginning of the year Orientation or Activities Fair event (1 hour)
  • Facilitation of at least 1 Medallion workshop per semester (2.5 hours)
  • Hold peer meetings to review students' progress in Medallion (Example: which workshops a student still needs to complete a level) (1-2 hours)


Upon completion of the requirements for level three and opting into the Medallion Leadership Society you will:

  • Receive a Medallion
  • Attend an exclusive retreat
  • Work with deans and staff on ODOS-specific programming
  • Support the Medallion Program workshops
  • Be a guest at exclusive receptions
  • Have professional development opportunities
