Concert and Poetry Reading Celebrating the Canonization of Pope John Paul II

Music, Catholic Newman Community, and the Council of St. Stanislaus Parish.

Free and open to the public.

Pope John Paul II

From his early years as a quarry worker, seminary student, and priest, Karol Wojtyła wrote poetry, plays and essays. The first writings date back to the years 1938-1939 and the last, Tryptyk Rzymski (Roman Triptych) was written by John Paul II in the year 2002.

A concert to celebrate the canonization John Paul II on 27th of April, 2014, will consist of music interspersed with readings of his poetry and excerpts from the book, John Paul II. The Story of My Life. Collected Memories.

Music of Bach, Chopin, Wieniawski, Beethoven, Dungan, and Gounod, will be performed by outstanding musicians from the Eastman School of Music: Johnandrew Slominski, piano, Emily Helenbrook, soprano, and Petros Karapetyan, violin.

Poetry and memories will be read by Rev. Brian C. Cool (in English), and Karolina Styczeń (in Polish).
