How to Register

Please note that some academic policies and timelines differ from the fall and spring semesters. Please review the policies and summer academic calendar before registering.

Matriculated Students (students enrolled in a UR degree program)

Current matriculated students can log on to WebReg to register before the deadlines listed below. You will be billed for your summer courses, and the charges will appear on your next tuition bill following completed registration.

Non-Matriculated Students

Non-matriculated students include all students who are not currently enrolled in a degree program through the University of Rochester. Please view additional information for each student type below. 

Prior to registering for courses, you must first create a new student account by completing a Non-matriculated Student Application. After completing the application, you will be notified within 24 to 48 hours via email to set up your NetID and password. The NetID and password will allow you to register for your courses online before the deadlines listed below.

Payment for your courses is due in full immediately following confirmation of registration. Payments can be made by contacting the Bursar's Office directly. Credit cards are not accepted. If payment is not received no later than one week prior to the first day of class, you will be deregistered.

Rochester Area Colleges (RAC) Inter-Institutional Program Students

To register for summer courses, you should follow the procedures outlined on the Registrar's site.

Visiting Students

Prior to registering for courses, you must first create a new student account. After creating a new account, students will be able to proceed to register for courses. If you have previously taken a course at Rochester in the immediately preceding term, you can go directly to the course registration page.

University of Rochester Alumni

Rochester alumni are encouraged to take courses for intellectual enrichment or professional development. With four summer sessions and a variety of courses, you can learn something new and enjoy your summer with our flexible schedules. In addition, we offer tuition discounts. Please refer to the tuition and fees page for more information.

University of Rochester Employees

University employees can take advantage of summer courses to earn college credit or to take a class that will help you in your current or future career. Eligible Rochester employees may use tuition benefits.

While no formal application is required, some courses have prerequisites. Course requirements can be found on our course offerings page.

If you have not taken a course at the University before, prior to registering for courses, you must first create a new student account. After creating an account, you will be able to proceed to register for courses.

Current High School Students

The University of Rochester offers a wide array of courses for high school students. You can engage in challenging and interesting coursework, while building lasting connections with your peers. To find out more about all the courses available, please visit our Pre-College Programs page.

Incoming First-Year UR Students

Enrolled incoming students, who are slated to begin their first year at UR in fall 2020, can take no more than two summer 2020 courses for credit. Prior to registering for courses, you must first email the Office of Summer and Continuing Studies at oscs@rochester.edu to receive information regarding registration.
