Creating a link

Problem

You want to add a link to your web page. This could be a link to another page or file within your site, or to a location in another website.

Solution

Adding a link to another page or file (.pdf, .doc) within your website:

  1. Click the Edit tab
  2. Click in the WYSIWYG field and type the text for the link
  3. Select the text with your mouse
  4. In the "insert/Edit Link" dialog, click on "Internal"
  5. Click the "Browse" button to browse to the page or file within your asset tree
  6. Click Submit

Adding a link to a web page not in your website:

  1. Click the Edit tab
  2. Click in the WYSIWYG field and type the text for the link
  3. Select the text with your mouse
  4. In the "insert/Edit Link" dialog, click on "External"
  5. Type the link in the field labeled "Link"
  6. Click Submit

Some examples of external links:

Creating a clickable email address:

  1. Click the Edit tab
  2. Click in the WYSIWYG field and type the text for the link
  3. Select the text with your mouse
  4. In the "insert/Edit Link" dialog, click on "External"
  5. Type the words mailto: followed by the email address in the field labeled "Link" (Ie: mailto:hajim@rochester.edu)
  6. Click Submit
