Following more than a year of campus-wide dialogue, the University has adopted new Principles of Freedom of Expression to guide our community in fostering open, respectful, and intellectually vibrant exchange. The principles are the product of a task force comprising faculty, students, staff, trustees, and other stakeholders created by President Sarah Mangelsdorf and built on earlier work involving the Office of Engagement and Enrichment, PEN America, and the Faculty Senate. These principles affirm the University’s commitment to academic freedom, free expression, and constructive dialogue—cornerstones of our mission and values—and will inform future policies on related topics. An effective therapy requires targeting these specific areas in different ways to modulate the healing process,” says Anne Nichols, an assistant professor of orthopaedics at the Center for Musculoskeletal Research.
