Optics professors inducted into National Academy of Inventors

Go Green: Department of Chemistry builds own helium recovery system
Earlier this year, members of the Department of Chemistry built an in-house helium recovery system with a 90 percent recovery rate. The system saves the department money by eliminating the need to purchase helium tanks every week but it has also created a more reliable supply of liquid helium. Protect yourself and your community: Get a flu shot
To help prevent the spread of influenza in the community, make a plan to get your flu shot. You can get a flu shot at many local pharmacies, including CVS, Walgreens, and Wegmans. If you’re going home for winter break, consider scheduling an appointment with a local pharmacy or your primary care provider.
A new referral bonus program from the Office of Human Resources will reward faculty and staff who recommend qualified candidates in their personal and professional networks to join the University. Between December 8 and March 31, current employees can receive up to $5,000 for referring a new hire who remains at the University for at least 18 months. Find more information on the HR website. You may view or change your life insurance beneficiary information online at any time by logging into HRMS and clicking on “Securian Financial.” If you do not name a beneficiary, policy benefits will be paid, in order of priority, to your lawful spouse, children, parents, siblings, or estate.
Inaugural theater production at Sloan Performing Arts Center continues this week
