In today’s issue:
A new and early career instructor teaching community through the Teaching Center
Tickets are available for the upcoming “Fashion and Art DeTOUR” at the Memorial Art Gallery
New and early career instructor teaching community
Instructors can join this Teaching Center community to develop their teaching identity, learn evidence-based practices, and document and reflect on their teaching for iterative growth. Eligible instructors teach courses that enroll students in the School of Arts & Sciences or Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, are in their first three years of teaching at Rochester, and are on a multiyear contract (e.g., tenure track, instructional track, lecturer, two-year visiting assistant professor). The community will meet in person six times during the fall semester on Tuesdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Learn more and register here.
Program helps research teams enroll study participants
The Emergency Department Research Associate program (EDRA) helps study teams from a diverse array of departments screen and consent patients—and may be a great fit for your research study. A team of over 40 undergraduates trained in the informed consent process will explain and complete screening and enrollment forms with patients in the Emergency Department. EDRAs operate seven days a week for 16 consecutive hours per day. Using the EDRA program can increase study enrollment compared to hiring a research coordinator. Fill out the interest form.
Join the Buddhist meditation group via Zoom for weekly sessions on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and Thursdays from 4:30 to 5 p.m. starting on August 28. Each week includes two 30-minute drop-in sittings to fit tight schedules. Contact Kyle Trenshaw for more information or to be added to the email list. No prior meditation experience is necessary.
Fashion and art DeTOUR at MAG
Join the Memorial Art Gallery for a DeTOUR with Brandon Brooks from the Genesee Country Village Museum on Thursday, September 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. Look at the colors, hemlines, silhouettes, and fabrics of some works in the collection and learn about clothing from the past, today’s trends, and the many layers of the fashion industry. Museum members can log in to get a $5 discount on the first two tickets in their order.
Email Jessica Gasbarre with questions. Ticket sales end on Thursday, September 19, at 6:15 p.m. Ticket includes DeTOUR and museum admission. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing your receipt. To check in, give your name at the Admissions Desk.
