Antibodies in breast milk provide protection against common GI virus
Led by Kirsi Jarvinen-Seppo, a professor of pediatrics, of medicine, and of microbiology and immunology, new research finds that breast milk provides protection against rotavirus, a common gastrointestinal disease that causes diarrhea, vomiting, and fever in infants. The findings are expected to drive future research to improve infant health through optimized breastfeeding practices.

Queer art-making session
The Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center is kicking off its BIC-Ture This: Queer Art Making series on Friday, September 27, at 7 p.m. Participants will make their own soup or cereal bowl cozy while building community with other University LGBTQ students. This is a free event open to all University LGBTQ students. No previous skill is required, and students who register by Monday, September 23, will receive all supplies needed.

Health Care Leadership Development Program webinar tomorrow
Designed for Medical Center physicians and health care leaders with an advanced degree, the Health Care Leadership Development Program (HCLDP) offers an opportunity to sharpen your business acumen and strengthen your health care management skills, without the commitment of a full graduate degree program.
The program’s targeted curriculum is taught by Simon Business School faculty and is split into four modules focusing on various aspects of health care administration. Faculty and staff with an advanced degree are encouraged to apply for the spring cohort. Admission priority is given to Medical Center leaders who plan to pursue all four modules.
Workshop on engaging students through social annotation
Open to all Rochester instructors, this one-hour Teaching Center Zoom workshop explores best practices for engaging students using social annotation—a practice of reading and thinking about texts collaboratively through digital annotations. Learn how to encourage students to engage with one another’s thinking in an asynchronous and accessible way and use social annotations to structure effective class discussions. Run, walk, or ride with Wilmot Cancer Institute this Weekend
Join Wilmot Cancer Institute for its biggest community fundraiser of the year, the Wilmot Warrior Weekend, September 21 and 22. The event features a one-mile walk, 5K run/walk, and multiple bike ride routes as well as a fun post-race celebration.
