Update on ‘Wanted’ posters investigation

A message sent to the University community yesterday from Quchee Collins, associate vice president for the Department of Public Safety and chief public safety officer, offered an update on the University’s investigation into the antisemitic “Wanted” posters found on Monday in buildings across campus, as well as mental health support resources and a link to report discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. TODAY’S UPDATES

Login changes to international student systems applications start today

Starting today, November 14, as part of the University initiative to migrate away from using NetID, the international student systems logins (including URCompass and Sunapsis) will change from NetID to Microsoft Entra ID accounts. The Entra accounts are based on the UR and URMC Active Directory (AD) accounts. For those with UR Active Directory accounts, the Entra username uses the format ADusername@ur.rochester.edu. For those with URMC AD accounts, the Entra username is the URMC email address, such as First_Last@urmc.rochester.edu. Read more about the change.

Wells Prize honorees exemplify the best of Rochester’s multidisciplinary educational opportunities

Presented by the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, the annual Robert L. Wells Prize honors seniors who are majoring in an engineering discipline while pursuing a major or minor in one of the humanities fields. IN MEMORIAM

Flags will be lowered for Douglas Telban

University flags on the Eastman Quadrangle and near the entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department will be lowered on Thursday, November 21, for Douglas Telban, a senior internal auditor in the Audit Department, who died on November 2. Telban joined the University staff in 2017.

FOR STUDENTS

Free admission to women’s soccer NCAA Division III Championship games

Cheer on the varsity women’s soccer team during the NCAA Division III Championships this weekend. Show your University Student ID at the gate and Wilson Commons Student Activities will cover the cost of your ticket. The first game is Saturday, November 16, at 1 p.m. against Emmanuel College. At 3:30 p.m., Amherst College takes on SUNY New Paltz. The winners of each game advance to the second round on Sunday, November 17, at 3 p.m. All games are in Fauver Stadium.

Elevate your ramen noodles

Join the Health Promotion Office on Sunday, November 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. for a hands-on workshop about transforming instant ramen into balanced, nutritious meals. Discover versatile ingredients and simple cooking techniques that can enhance the flavor and nutritional values of basic ramen. You will learn how to incorporate proteins, vegetables, and garnishes with creative ingredient substitutions suited to your budget or dietary preferences. Registration is required.

Often referred to as seasonal affective disorder, seasonal depression is a form of depression that can occur during the fall and winter months. Geriatrics Faculty Scholars Program call for applications

The Aging Institute announces a call for applications for the 2025 Geriatric Faculty Scholars Program, open to junior and mid-career academic faculty from the School of Nursing and School of Medicine & Dentistry with an interest in aging who wish to spearhead program development through geriatric education within their school, program, division, or department. Find more information here. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 6.

‘Lunch and Learn’ on perspectives in community-engaged learning

All University faculty and community partners are invited to a lunch-and-learn session about a partnership integrating classroom learning with community engagement, and upcoming funding opportunities to support the operations and development of community-engaged courses. Center for Integrated Research Computing symposium

The next Center for Integrated Research Computing symposium will take place on Friday, November 15, from noon to 1 p.m. in Wegmans Hall, Room 1400. It will highlight the study of biological systems with excited state chemistry. Find more information here.

Opioid overdose prevention training

Students, faculty, and staff can join Strong Recovery for opioid overdose prevention training on Thursday, November 21, at noon in the Gowen Room, Wilson Commons. All attendees over age 18 will receive a free Narcan kit. Registration is required. Brought to you by the UHS Health Promotion Office and cohosted by Sigma Psi Zeta.

Medical Student Achievement Award Ceremony

Attend the School of Medicine and Dentistry’s Medical Student Achievement Award Ceremony on Friday, November 22, in the Class of ’62 Auditorium (G-9425) at noon. Lunch will be served.
