Workshop on consent and boundaries

Join the UHS Health Promotion Office and Title IX office for a workshop on consent and boundary-setting and gain practical skills for platonic and romantic settings. Attend on Friday, November 22, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Welles-Brown Room, Rush Rhees. Light refreshments will be provided.

‘Dosing Empathy in Healthcare’ Medallion Leadership Program workshop

Attend a workshop on Tuesday, November 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Genesee Hall, Room 325, on providing empathic health care. Learn more and register here to attend.

Peer Observation Fellowship

Learn teaching observation skills and evidence-based teaching practices through mutual observation with a peer partner. The community meets as a group in person four times during the spring semester to discuss how to make observations productive and improve teaching. Each participant will also complete a peer observation process with a partner in one of their spring semester courses. The total time commitment is 12 hours; the fellowship carries a $500 non-salary stipend. Open to instructors teaching a spring 2025 class primarily enrolling students in the School of Arts & Sciences or Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. Register here.

Event explores reproductive justice through scholarship, activism, and art-making

The Frederick Douglass Institute and the Department of Black Studies present “Silhouettes, A Musical: Reproductive Justice Through Arts and Activism” in Havens Lounge, Wilson Commons, on Friday, November 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. The event approaches the topic of reproductive justice through scholarship, activism, and art-making. Lecture: ‘This Ain't Texas: Cowboy Carter and Beyonce’s Demand for Black Creative Visibility in Country and Beyond’

Francesca Royster, a professor of English at DePaul University, delivers the 2024 Two Icons Lecture “This Ain’t Texas: Cowboy Carter and Beyonce’s Demand for Black Creative Visibility in Country and Beyond.” The lecture takes place Tuesday, December 3, from 5 to 6:15 p.m. in the Hawkins-Carlson Room, Rush Rhees Library.
