Open to all University instructors, faculty, and staff, the Teaching Center hosts a workshop series throughout the spring semester. Find details below in the For Faculty and Staff section.
Today’s issue also features:
Information on the first Rochester Monday
How employees can use their FSA health spending card
A car seat check event at Golisano Children’s Hospital
A reminder that the spring 2025 semester is the first term to feature the Rochester Monday, which will occur on the first Friday of the semester. That means on Friday, January 24, Rochester faculty will teach their Monday classes, so students should attend their regularly scheduled Monday classes that day.
Please note that the School of Medicine and Dentistry, the School of Nursing, and the Warner School of Education and Human Development will not participate in Rochester Monday, so students attending those schools should attend their regular Friday classes.
The introduction of Rochester Monday—the first Friday of the spring semester—is part of an update to the academic calendar that better aligns holidays and other events across University schools throughout the year.
For more information, the University Academic Calendar is available online. There will not be a make-up day for the Friday classes that fall on Rochester Monday. There is simply one less Friday in the term than the other days of the week.
Drop-in counseling groups regarding the California wildfires
University Counseling Center (UCC) will provide support spaces via Zoom in light of the ongoing devastating wildfires in California. Students do not need to be in the Rochester area to attend a drop-in group (unlike therapy services).
For students who prefer individualized support, UCC has same-day appointments available for urgent needs, after-hours on-call and in-person support both accessed by calling (585) 275-3113, and on-demand support 24/7 through TELUS (students have free access by downloading the app to their phone).
Open to all University instructors, faculty, and staff, these workshops are designed to provide practical strategies and ready-to-implement tools. Workshops are held on Zoom on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon and on Fridays from noon to 1 p.m. Register here.
