Spring travel guidelines for international students, scholars, and employees
The International Services Office (ISO) strongly recommends that all international students, scholars, and employees review the travel guidelines and consult with an ISO adviser before traveling—within and outside of the US—for the upcoming spring break or other semester travel. Students should ensure that they have their I-20s or DS-2019s (with a valid travel signature), passports, and an unexpired visa sticker. Employees with pending legal permanent resident applications should carefully weigh all the risks and consult with their immigration attorneys before making any travel plans. Visa decisions and entry to the US are subject to the discretion of the US Consular Officers and Border Protection. Key guidance for all international students, scholars, and employees:
Whether you are traveling in country or outside of the US, remember to carry these documents with you. Do not pack them in your checked airline baggage.
Make it easy for a government officer to verify your legal status by having your original immigration documents available, if requested.
You should carry original documents with you if you travel outside of Rochester and the surrounding area and remember to keep copies in a secure location in your home.
