FOR STUDENTS

Spring Break travel health reminder

If you’re traveling for Spring Break, UHS Primary Care reminds you to be aware that upper respiratory infections like the flu and COVID-19 remain common. Protect yourself with these steps:

  • Get vaccinated: The 2024–25 flu vaccine is available at UHS.
  • Practice good hygiene: Wash hands frequently or use hand sanitizer. Cover coughs/sneezes and dispose of tissues properly.
  • Avoid contact: Don’t touch your face or share personal items like towels, utensils, and cups.
  • Consider wearing a mask: Masks help prevent the spread of viruses and protect against airborne particles.

Additionally, a measles outbreak has led to 164 cases in the US, with 146 cases in Texas. Fully vaccinated individuals (two MMR doses) are 97 percent protected. If you develop symptoms—fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, white mouth spots, or a rash—seek medical attention.
