Mitch Lovett named interim dean of Simon Business School
Mitch Lovett, senior associate dean of education and innovation and the Benjamin Forman Professor of Marketing at Simon Business School, has been named the school’s interim dean. Lovett will begin serving in the role on July 1.
On Thursday, April 24, from noon to 1 p.m., Joe Testani, the deputy to the president, will have a Zoom conversation with Ravi Shankar, the interim vice provost for global engagement. The session will focus on how Rochester is adapting and enhancing its strategy and programs to stay ahead of a constantly evolving global landscape. Register to attend.

University achieves STARS silver rating for sustainability
The University has once again been recognized for its efforts in sustainability by being named a STARS silver institution by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. There are more than 1,200 participants in 52 countries in the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System program, the most widely recognized framework in the world for publicly reporting comprehensive information related to a college or university’s sustainability performance.
Earlier this week, the University initiated a sexual misconduct campus climate survey, urging all students to participate. The survey aims to evaluate the prevalence and nature of students’ experiences with sexual and relationship violence, harassment, and other forms of sexual misconduct. Additionally, it seeks to gather students’ knowledge and opinions regarding the University’s resources and available options.
Individual responses will remain confidential, and the results will be published on the University’s website in compliance with New York State law. These results will inform policies and programming to foster a healthy, safe, and nondiscriminatory environment at the University. Participation in the survey is voluntary and will close on Friday, May 2.
Audition for the theater program’s first show of fall 2025
Auditions for The Memorandum, the International Theatre Program’s first show of fall 2025, will be on Friday, April 25, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, at noon in Todd Theater. Prepare a monologue (preferably comic) from a play of your choice, or just show up. Learn more.

Faculty and staff interested in saving past W-2s, pay slips before the myURHR Workday and UKG implementation, or Total Rewards statements should do so by April 30. Faculty and staff will not have access to HRMS after April 30 and must contact the payroll office for copies.

The International Services Office (ISO) is hosting two virtual town halls today, April 23, for members of the University community to hear about US immigration topics, international travel, and available resources. To join a town hall, you must register via the links below for each one using your official University email. You may submit anonymous questions in advance and ask questions anonymously during the town hall.
Hiring departments and faculty sponsors, 10 a.m.: Topics include hiring of noncitizens, international travel considerations for faculty, and visa requirements.
Students, noon: Topics include international travel guidance, visa/status requirements, keeping up with address changes (via SEVIS), government reviews of social media for F-1/J-1 students, and ICE encounters.
Spring CIRC workshop
The Center for Integrated Research Computing (CIRC) will host a workshop for learning about the University’s computing environment for research on Friday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the VISTA Collaboratory on the first floor of Carlson Library.

Faculty, staff, graduate and medical students needed for focus group
Hillel International is partnering with the University on a campus climate review to assess and improve the experience for Jewish students at Rochester. Faculty, staff, graduate students, and medical students are invited to participate in an hour-long virtual focus groups conducted by researchers at the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, a nonpartisan research organization. The focus group conversations will be recorded to ensure accurate reporting, but participant names will not be shared. To sign up for a focus group, complete this online questionnaire and registration form.
