What athletes and parents should know about head injuries in sports

Jeff Bazarian, a professor of emergency medicine with an active concussion clinic and research program, breaks down what happens when the head takes a hit during sports—from the differences between concussions and less obvious impacts to the latest tools for diagnosis, prevention strategies, and the current state of treatment.

Learning Center summer services

The Learning Center is open this summer to help optimize your learning and coursework. In-person and virtual tutoring appointments for biology, chemistry, math, and more can be booked online. You can also email, call, or stop by the Learning Center to schedule an Academic Coaching session. The center is located on the first floor of Dewey Hall, which is under construction for the summer. Enter through the door on the back side of Dewey Hall (across from Hoyt Hall, by the cherry blossom trees) and follow the signs. Find more information on services and the summer entrance here.

Digital accessibility awareness survey

The digital accessibility team in University Marketing and Communications invites all faculty and staff to take the digital accessibility awareness survey. Your feedback will help strengthen inclusive digital practices and guide accessibility efforts across the University. By completing the survey, you’ll receive information about available resources, upcoming learning opportunities, and ways to get involved in creating a more accessible digital environment.

Get a discount on your auto insurance premiums

Drivers with a New York State license may receive a discount on auto insurance premiums and remove up to four points from their driving record by completing a defensive driving class. University employees and retirees can take advantage of online classes offered by Liberty Mutual for a reduced rate, regardless of their insurance carrier. Register here.

Retiree benefits webinar

The Office of Total Rewards hosts a retiree benefits webinar on Wednesday, May 28, at noon, to discuss eligibility for retiree benefits, health and dental insurance, Medicare, enrollment periods, and other benefits offered to you as a University retiree.

As of May 16, the Office of Equity and Inclusion has been renamed as the Office of University Engagement and Enrichment. The change reflects the office’s continued commitment to fostering a thriving and respectful campus environment for all, and the expectation that the work of the office will be seen as benefiting everyone in our University community.

Final spring Restorative Dialogues session

Registration is open for the final session of the spring 2025 Restorative Dialogues series, open to all University students, staff, and faculty. Explore restorative practices and share what’s on your heart and mind.
